Jack Lee Bishop

Jackie Lee Bishop, age 73, of MacArthur, WV passed away on Saturday June 15, 2024 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley due to complications from a stroke.

Born on October 4, 1950 in Mullens, he was the son of the late Edward Paul Bishop and Martha Ellen Lester Bishop.

Jack was a Church of God chaplain, and drove the food truck for Fishes and Loaves. He had been a Church of God member, and was baptized in 1997. He loved to talk about the Lord.

Jack loved all types of music, bluegrass, gospel, country, and rock and roll. Jack owned and operated several businesses in the area, including Professional Paint and Body, Jack Bishop Pre-Owned Auto Sales, Glade Auto Service, Nuthin' Fancy, Kar Connection, Terry's Car Mart, and Professional Car Care.

Jack was his wife Kathy's everything for 34 years. They traveled the world by vehicle, plane or by boat. For 23 years Jack worked as a mine foreman for Pittston Coal Company for many years. His main hobby was cars, hot rod's to say the least. He always had a corvette, or some type of muscle car. He and Kathy enjoyed beyond measure and looked forward to the Spring and Fall Rod Runs in Pigeon Forge. They got their daughter Jenna involved at a young age and she enjoyed them just as much as they did. When their grandson was born he was just three weeks old at his first Rod Run. Jack was teaching him about the different makes, models, and engines.

Jack was also a loving family man. He really enjoyed family "get togethers" and had the true gift of gab. He worked all of his life, even after retirement he still worked on fixing and selling cars. It was in his blood. He had a German Shephard, Kimber, and a shih tzu Bailey, who he loved with all of his heart. When they passed away, he said that there will be no more, and then little Bandit came into his life and was his little pal. Bandit will miss him greatly.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by brothers Edward Paul and Darrell Bishop, and a sister Betty Jean Bishop Kelly.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 34 years, Kathy Haga Bishop; a daughter Tammy Bishop McAllister and husband Sam; a daughter Jenna Bishop and fiancé Shaun Ellison; a brother Arnold Bishop and wife Pam; a sister Barbara Bishop Meadows and husband Mike, who he thought of as a brother; a sister Mary Bishop Greco and husband Toney who he also thought of as a brother; granddaughters, Samantha Hart and Jackie McAllister; his only grandson Elijah Gage, who called him Poppy.

Great grandchildren, Kaden Hart, Easton Hart and little Emma Jo Hart.

Brothers-in-law Scott Haga, Richard Haga, and Jason Haga. Several nieces and nephews, a special niece Paula Nicole, and a special nephew Nathan Haga; and Bandit his little shih tzu, who was his shadow.

A memorial service will be held to Celebrate the Life of Jackie Lee Bishop at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 2 PM with Bishop Wayne Wicker officiating. Friends and family may gather together at the funeral home from noon until 2 PM on Friday.
