James Howard Adkins, Jr.

James Howard Adkins Jr., age 70, of Cool Ridge, WV passed away on Sunday, May 19,2024 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born October 5, 1953 in Meade, WV, he was the son of the late James Howard Adkins Sr. and Juanita Blevins Adkins, of East Gulf, WV.

Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by two brothers Jacky and Travis.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Virginia Cox Adkins;  a son James Adkins and wife Susie of Beckley; a daughter TaLisa Sizemore and husband Brian of Charleston; brothers, David and Dean Adkins; sisters Donna Mills, Susie England and Debra Dean; several wonderful and loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a retired underground mine electrician, and enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Adkins was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside rites and burial will be held at the Mount View Cemetery at Cool Ridge, WV on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 4 PM with Rev. Ken Killen officiating. Friends may visit with the family thirty minutes prior to the services at the cemetery on Wednesday.
