James Daniel Calliope Sr.

James Daniel Calliope Sr., age 75, of Cool Ridge, WV passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV.

Born on December 30, 1948 in Beckley, he was the son of the late John Calliope and Ruth Abbott Calliope.

Mr. Calliope was a retired employee Brake Supply Company as a  truck driver, and  had served as a former member of Ghent Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking  and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Calliope was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Calliope, and  by a brother, John Bruce Calliope.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children: James Daniel Calliope Jr. and wife Rose of Cool Ridge, and Kim Calliope and husband David Parsons of North Carolina; a brother Gary Calliope of Sophia; a sister Phyllis Bostic and husband Bishop James Bostic of Beckley; eight grandchildren,  Logan, Dakota, Christian, Jacob, Alexis, Katie, Madison and Chase;  a great granddaughter, Charlotte. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, August  7, 2024 at 11 AM with Bishop James Bostic officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.  Friends may visit with the family one  hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
