James "Jay" Edward Garten

James Edward "Jay" Garten, age 66, of Oak Grove, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21,  2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 28, 1958 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Pastor Edward E. Garten and Jewell Snuffer Garten.

Mr. Garten was a retired welder, and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed car racing, watching football, and when health permitted, loved to fish.

Those survivors left  to cherish  his memory include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Hylton Garten; his sons, Derrick Garten and Cole Garten, both of Oak Grove;  three grandchildren, Katie Garten, Kash Garten and Asher Garten;  a brother  Eldon Garten and  wife Carolyn of Stanaford; several nieces and nephews also  survive.

According to Mr. Garten's personal wishes, no services will  be held .
