James "Jim" Truman Meadows

James Truman "Jim" Meadows, 81, of Crab Orchard, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by and holding hands with his loving family. He was born May 29, 1945, in Beckley, WV, to the late James Preston "J.P." and Nancy Ann Wood Meadows, the 12th and baby of the family.

Jim graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1963.  He lived a life marked by hard work, dedication to his family, and an unwavering faith.  He was known for his kindness, generosity, and deep devotion to those he loved. He loved giving his "dad hugs" to his family, friends, and friends who became like family. He often told you "I Love You" out of the blue just to be sure you knew how often he thought about his love for you and he meant it. He was a faithful member of Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church in Beaver, WV. Jim was a talented pattern maker by trade and took great pride in his craftsmanship.  His mining patterns and mining equipment models have been used throughout the world; a testament to his skill, precision, and attention to detail. He worked for Fairchild International before establishing his own business, Beckley Patterns.  Prior to his career in pattern making, Jim worked for Gray Lumber Company and Riffe Enterprises. Following his retirement, he continued working at David Hill Concrete, where his strong work ethic remained evident. He loved his family fiercely and supported them in all they did. He especially encouraged his grandsons in their academic, sports, and culinary endeavors and was so proud of them.

Jim treasured his time spent with family on the farm in Hinton, where a lot of hard work was done and cherished memories were made through picnics, laughter, and long days mowing the fields he loved.  He also had a lifelong passion for antique automobiles and took great pride in his beloved 1946 Mercury Coupe.  Whether working on the farm or working with classic cars, he found his greatest happiness in sharing those moments with the people he loved most.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, J.P. and Nancy Meadows; his infant daughter Michelle Leigh Meadows; the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Susie Meadows; his very close sister Jessie Meadows and siblings Lacy, Emerson, Arnold, Maxine, Josephine, Fay, Howard Page, Frank, and Tom; his special nephew Jimmy "JB" Brown, and his brother-in-law Jim Brown.

Those left to cherish his memory and retell his stories are his daughter Deborah Joy (Kevin) Fleming of Crab Orchard, his son Page (Becky) Meadows of Hinton, and treasured grandsons Devin and Kaedin Fleming of Crab Orchard, sister-in-law Janet Brown of Crab Orchard, brother Preston (Shirley) Meadows of Buckeye, WV, special nieces Sherri Burleson, Tiffany Meadows and Brittany Meadows of Crab Orchard, Kim (Paul) Schultz of Bourbonnais, IL, Vickie (Roy) Douglas of Hinton and Cheri (Ken) Botkin of AZ and nephew Brandon Meadows of Crab Orchard; along with many other nieces, nephews, and extended family members all over the country. Honorary "adopted" sons and daughters Steve and Beverly Castanon of Coal City, Keith and Renee Manning of Crab Orchard, Derek and Emily Cullop of Weatherford, TX, Josh and Tammy Wood of Crab Orchard, and Jason and Wendi Shumate of Beckley. He also leaves behind many church family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Jim is reunited with his beloved wife Susie and gets to hold his daughter Michelle while they all rest in the presence of the Lord.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church in Beaver, WV on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 1:00PM with Pastor Keith Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00AM until service time on Sunday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
