Janet Buckland

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the gentle passing of Janet Buckland, who peacefully left her earthly body on August 11, 2025, at the age of 76, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, she was the daughter of the late Orville Huss Dillon and Marie (Cook) Dillon of Whitesville, WV. Janet was a devoted wife to her husband Jim with whom she shared a passion for family and Nascar; They enjoyed going to races and watching on tv when they couldn't be there in person. Janet was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother and great grandmother. And there is something to be said about Janet and the wonderful and genuine relationship she had with her siblings, Vicky, Donna and Wayne. They truly loved and supported each other throughout their lives; maintaining a family strength developed by their loving parents to last a lifetime, even surpassing her love of the band Alabama… if you can believe that.

In congruence with her loving and caring nature, Janet graduated from LPN school in 1991 and embarked on her nursing career where she cared for and worked with the IDD population at Rescare in Beckley. Janet loved her people… all her people… and we felt it.

Those left to cherish her memory include her only son, Michael (Nancy) Lowe, 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Robert) Snuffer, Vicky (Darrell) Ewing; brother, Wayne (Debbie) Dillon; a host of nieces and nephews; and the many friends made throughout the years.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Chapel in Beckley, WV on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Grant Petitt Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Valley View Cemetery at Powley's Creek, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
