Jerry Erman Plumley

Jerry Erman Plumley, age 77, of Shady Spring,  WV passed away on March 4, 2024 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV after a short illness.

Born on March 20, 1946 in Oceana, he was the son of the late Olley E. Plumley and Ileda B. Plumley.

Mr. Plumley served in the US Marine Corp from 1964-1967, where he was a marksman, and discharged as a corporal.  He made his career at Mountaineer Gas Company, where he retired after more than 25 years of service.

Mr. Plumley loved spending time with his family, bird watching, farming, gardening, riding his Jeep, side by side, and loving his dog Maggie.

Mr. Plumley was preceded in death by his mother, Ileda, father Erman,  uncle Oral, and daughter-in-law Anitra Plumley.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Janice Plumley; children Jackie (Brian) Phillips, Susan (Darren) Bunch, Michael (Susan) Plumley, and Mark Plumley; step children, Denita Garth, Beverly Bohannon, and Kimberly Ingalls; grandchildren, Brian(Chelsea), Kevin J. (Kaitlynn), Logan, Colton, Makayla, Lilly, Samantha, Tyler, Sierra, Amanda, Monica, Roy, Tiffany, Ashley, Hannah, Danielle, Keri, and Tyler; great grandchildren,  Riley, Avalynn, Kevin L, Madalyne, Sophie, Aubrey,  Brayden, and several step great grandchildren. Special friends Dana,  Sandy and Robert, as well as a host of extended  family and friends that he enjoyed  visiting  when  he was able.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2 PM with Pastor Eddie McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Plumley Cemetery at Plumley Mountain. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Friday.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brian C. Phillips, Kevin J. Phillips, Logan Plumley, and great grandson Kevin L.  Phillips, and special friends Greg Shamblin and Stephen Thomas.  Honorary pallbearers will be Colton Plumley and Tyler Ingalls.

The family would  like to extend a  special thank  you to the wonderful staff at Cabell Huntington Hospital, especially R.N. Bobby of the  Palliative Care.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
