Jo Ellen Murdock, age 72, of White Oak, WV passed away at her home on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
Born on October 13, 1951 in Beckley, she was the daughter of Jo Ann Starr of Beaver, and the late Joe Pilkington Jr.
Mrs. Murdock was a graduate of Shady Spring High School, and Oral Roberts University. She had worked as an accountant for several years, and was a member of Shady Spring Pentecostal Church.
She loved working with flowers, and had hanging flower baskets at her camp grounds in Lerona, on each street. Mrs. Murdock was known as the "Flower Lady" by everyone at the camp grounds. The children at the camp grounds loved her and called her "Jo Jo".
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband Phillip Murdock of White Oak; her mother Jo Ann Starr of Beaver, a daughter Carol of Virginia, and a special close friend Carol Blankenship of Kentucky; A brother, Johnny Pilkington of Hinton; sisters, Mary Ann and husband Calvin of Cool Ridge, "Andy" of Florida, and Karen of Beckley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be held at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at noon with Pastor Benny Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
