Joan Dale Bare

Joan Dale Meador Bare, age 86, of Ararat, NC, formerly of Crab Orchard, WV passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Pruitt Health in Elkin, NC.

Born on August 18, 1938 in Nimitz, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Emmett Meador and Grace Lilly Meador.

Mrs. Bare had worked as a retail sales clerk for many years, lastly at Kmart.

She enjoyed birdwatching, and loved camping and fishing when health allowed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Bare; a son David Wayne Bare; a sister Betty Humphreys; a niece Tammy Hogan.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Diann East and husband Denny of Ararat, NC, Ricky Bare and wife Patty of Ararat, NC, and Sandy Burdette of Crab Orchard. Two brothers, Robert Meador and wife Marsha of Maryland, and Arnold Hatcher and wife Wendy of Maryland; a sister Norma Abbott and husband Richard of Woodstock, Virginia; a daughter-in-law Dollie Bare of Norwood, NC, a sister-in-law Betty Hall of Beckley, and a brother-in-law Clyde Bare and wife Nora of Crab Orchard; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren also survive.

A visitation will be held at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with graveside rites and burial to be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Rev. Richard Abbott will be officiating.
