Joann  Elizabeth Smith, age 86, of Hilltop, WV passed away at her home on Monday, July 8, 2024  surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 11, 1938 in Harvey, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank James Sumner and Delia Greer Sumner. Mrs. Smith came from a large family of 14 children.

Mrs. Smith was a second mother and grandmother to many for decades. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, hosting parties, and spending time with her family.  She was the "Reunion Queen" for  the  Smith Family Reunion, and loved planning for it.

In addition to her parents, she was  preceded in death by her husband Estel Smith; two sons Jason Smith and Timothy Smith.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Tina Ceterowski and husband Joe of Gore, Virginia, Darrell Smith and wife Debi of Charleston, WV, and Rebecca Smith of Hilltop,  WV. Grandchildren, Anastasia Smith, Elizabeth Smith, and Emily McVicker; great grandchildren, Jazmin  Smith, Isabella Pianezzi, and Enzo Pianezzi. A sister, Laura Miller and husband Harry of Maple Fork, WV. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside rites and burial to Celebrate the Lives of Joann Smith and Timothy Smith  will be held at the Harrah Cemetery at Backus Mountain, WV at 11 AM on Monday, July 15, 2024 with Rev. Harry Miller officiating.

There  will be no visitation.
