John Roy Click, Jr.

John Roy Click, Jr., age 73, of Clear Creek, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Born March 30, 1952, in Charleston, WV, John was a devoted husband, loving father, and the best "Poppie" his grandchildren could ever ask for. He was often affectionately referred to as "Poppie" by every child he came in contact with, as he spent his entire life showing what unconditional love truly looked like. He also held a special place in his heart for his grandmother, Gracie Click, who lovingly raised him from birth until her passing when he was 12 years old—a bond that shaped his life and the man he became.

With a heart of gold and unwavering loyalty to his family, he never missed a chance to spend time with the ones he loved. Whether he was cheering in the stands at his grandkids' games, taking trips to races, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, his greatest joy was always his family. He was happiest when surrounded by them—laughing, talking, and simply being together.

He dedicated many years of his life to working in the coal mines, where he carried out his job with pride and skill. In addition to working as a roof bolter, he was a member of the mine rescue team, sharing his experience and bravery to help keep others safe. He also served his community as Fire Chief for many years. His work ethic, strength, and leadership were qualities he was deeply proud of.

After retiring, he enjoyed shooting his guns, watching races, visiting family, attending his grandkids' sporting events, and worshiping at Faith Community Church. He lived a life full of purpose, passion, and love.

He leaves behind a family who adored him, admired him, and will forever carry his memory in their hearts. John will be dearly missed, but his legacy—one of love, loyalty, family, and faith—will live on in all who knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Sharon Click (Long); son, James "Danny" Click of Clear Creek; daughter, Caresta Click (Johnny Bragg) of Beckley; son, Michael (Tasha) Click of Stanaford; grandchildren, Kassie (Corey) Ward, Caleb (Alexis) Click, McKenzie Bragg, Emily Bragg, Bella Click, London Click, and Easton Click; great-grandchildren, Chloe Ward, Kennedi Ward, and Callum Ward; mother-in-law, Janet Long; sisters, Carrie Lynn Toney, Dinah Weaver, and Brenda Stover; brothers, Lenny Hodge and Phillip Ryder; brother-in-law, Rodger Long; sister-in-law, Tammy Long; and many special nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John Roy Click, Sr.—whom he never had the chance to meet on earth and longed to see for the first time in Heaven—and his mother, Joyce Hodge; father-in-law, James Long; grandson, Timothy John (TJ) Click; and his grandmother, Gracie Click.
