John Charles May

John Charles May, age 64, of Beckley, WV, formerly of Sevierville, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born on September 24, 1961 in Durham, NC, to the late Leo and Willa May.

John was a 1979 Graduate of Shady Spring High School, and was a retired 20 year employee of Carr Rehab in Knoxville, TN. Prior to that he was an employee of All Care in Beckley. He was an avid hunter, loved to fish and played golf before his illness.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 44 years, Janie May; sons J.C. (Emilee) and Aaron May; grandsons Devan, Collin and Dillon. He is also survived by brothers David (Diane) May of Sevierville, TN and Jimmy (Ruth) May of Cool Ridge, WV; sisters Susan (Mike) Winston of Shady Spring, WV and Jeannie (Ken) Woodrum of New Alexandria, Pa. He had five nieces and nephews, one great nephew and two great nieces also.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Amos E. Quesenberry Funeral Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Shady Spring, WV with Dr. Guy Smoak of Knoxville, TN officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

John wished to be cremated and his cremains will be scattered at a later date at the cabin in Flat Top that he dearly loved.
