John Henderson Ratcliffe

Mr. John Henderson Ratcliffe, age 95, was born June 28, 1929, in Tannersville, VA, to the late William Tyler and Myra Elizabeth Owens Ratcliffe. Mr. Ratcliffe passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024.

He married the love of his life, Wilda Bryant Ratcliffe on February 11, 1953 and shortly thereafter moved to North Augusta, SC. Once there, he began working for DuPont as an electrician, then became a supervisor and later retired with over 40 years of service. Mr. Ratcliffe served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in North Augusta. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and buying and trading vehicles; always wanting to make sure that his sweetheart was riding in style. Mr. Ratcliffe loved his family and enjoyed being at home, and especially loved spending time with Tom and Peanut, the family cats.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Surviving members left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 71 years, Wilda Bryant Ratcliffe as well as several nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Ratcliffe would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mendi Harting, RN. She was Mr. Ratcliffe's nurse from Professional Case Management for over 8 years and cared for him with love and compassion until the end of his life.

Graveside rites and burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV.
