John Henry Walker

John Henry Walker, age 74, of Christiansburg, Virginia passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 in a Radford, Virginia hospital due to a fall.

John was born on May 29, 1949 in Hick Hollow, West Virginia. He was a 1968 graduate of Stoco High School, served in the US Army in Vietnam, and was a purple heart recipient.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Emory "Duck"  Walker and Irene Bolen Walker; brothers Emory, Mack, Dallas, and Orlan Walker; sisters Susie Harden, Rayola Nance, and Carol Walker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Carol Shrewsbury Walker; his two sons, Delmar Walker (Gini) of Sanford, North Carolina, and Jacob Walker (Nichole) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his two brothers, Micky Walker (Lynn) of Grandview, West Virginia, and Danny Walker (Connie) of Cool Ridge, West Virginia; a sister Hope Gillespie of Coal City, West Virginia; a sister-in-law Joyce Walker of Christiansburg, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 7 PM with Pastor Aaron Kock officiating. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the services (5PM until 7 PM) on Monday at the funeral home. John will be cremated.
