Joy Straughn

Joy Lynn Straughn, age 66, of Shady Spring, WV, went to meet her Lord and Savior at 11:50 am on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Born February 9, 1959, in Akron, OH. She was the daughter of the late Gerald Straughn and Betty Kountz Straughn Raines.

In addition to her parents Joy was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Richard Raines; a very special great niece, Lauryn Brooke Matherly; a very special aunt; Anna Lee Hicks, and three brother in-laws whom she adored; Bill Morris, Larry Crawford and Jim Brown and her precious dog, Jujubee.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Jeri Lou Morris, Judy Wills (Gary), Janet Crawford, Jill Straughn Winslow (Blain); brother, Jeffrey Straughn; and Joy's partner, Jeff Sweeney.

Joy was a talented artist, decorator and a great cook and could prepare the best fried cabbage, macaroni salad and crab salad.

Joy had a great sense of humor and was a friend to everyone. She was generous; if you complimented something, she gave it to you, even though she loved it too. She was such a fun aunt to her many nieces and nephews that they always wanted to be in her presence. They spent many summer days on the river fishing together.

Joy will be missed by her family, but they will keep her memory alive and will seek comfort in the Lord knowing she is resting in peace.

"We love you, our precious sister. We will miss you until we meet again."

Her family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
