Juanita Fern Williams

Juanita Fern Williams of Beckley, WV passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on October 27, 1942 at Piney View, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jackson C. and Verna Stewart Shrewsbury.

Juanita was a former employee of  the telephone company, working many years as a telephone operator through various company changes, formally retiring in 2005. After retiring she enjoyed playing with her great grandchildren, watching TV, and  playing games.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Nathan S. Williams; a granddaughter, Nicki Strazinsky; sister Violet Everage; half brother Ray Wise and wife Carol; half sisters Marguarite Bowles and husband Noah, Hattie Cavaliero and husband Frank, Clara Ratliff and husband Garland, and Goldie Peraset and husband Sammy.

She is survived by her sons: Nathan Ray Williams and wife Sharon of Florida, Tom Williams and his wife Mary of Florida, and Larry E. Williams and his  wife Traci of Beckley; daughter: Rhonda Williams Strazinsky of Florida; grandsons: Joshua Williams, Tommy Williams II, Matthew Williams and wife Madison, Nathan Williams, and Larry Evan Williams; granddaughters: Theresa Jarvis, Meghan Workman and husband  Billy, and  Jesse Strazinsky; great grandsons: Gavin Panipinto and wife Cameron, River Jarvis, Zavian Williams, Luke Williams, and Maddox Workman; great granddaughters: Arianna Williams, Amelia Williams, and Raelynn Workman. Brothers: Jack Shrewsbury and wife Dottie of Virginia, and Rick Shrewsbury and wife Darlena of Grandview. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

We, the family, would like to express  our thanks and gratitude to her doctors and nurses at Raleigh General Hospital, Dr. Khanna and Dr. El-Harake of CAMC Cancer Center of Beckley, Dr. Salon, Dr. Boustani, and Dr. Sakiali,  the staff and nurses of Bowers Hospice House, her at home nurses and therapists, especially Nurse Kelly and Therapist Kayla, and also to all who worked with her and took care of her during her long fought journey.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Funeral Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Anthony Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Williams, Nathan Williams, Larry Evan Williams, and Billy Workman.
