Judy Jean (Shrewsbury) Altis, 75, of Daniels, WV, passed away on December 26, 2024 at her home. She was born March 22, 1949 to Levi Harmon Shrewsbury, Jr. and Doris (Foley) Shrewsbury.

She was a 1967 graduate from Stoco High School. Judy's educational path led her to earn degrees from Freewill Baptist Bible College and Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee and a master's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She met Eddie Altis in Nashville, and they married in 1979. They spent several years in southern Missouri.

She combined her lifelong love of learning and devotion to God in serving others as an educator and librarian in many settings through her career. Students and staff at Southwest Missouri State University, Houston Public Schools, and Mountain State University benefited from her service. A member of Daniels Bible Church, Judy enjoyed spending time with friends and family and attending her Bible study group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Sam Shrewsbury, and her beloved sister-in-law Phyllis Shrewsbury. Judy is survived by her son, Daniel Altis of Gaston, South Carolina and his wife, Misty, as well as her grandson, Jackson. Her memory is also cherished by her siblings, Dan Shrewsbury of Flat Top, Alan Shrewsbury and wife, Julie of Odd, and Brenda (Shrewsbury) Melvin and husband, Bill of Raleigh, North Carolina, her dear sister-in-law, Terri of Hermitage, Tennessee, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Judy Altis on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Pastor Carl Dingus officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
