Kenneth Ray Hornsby

Kenneth Ray Hornsby, age 91, of Josephine, WV passed away in Rockville, Maryland on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Born on August 19, 1934 at Josephine, he was the son of the late William Hornsby and Daphna Bolen Hornsby.

Mr. Hornsby was a retired coal miner, and was a member of the UMWA. He attended the Rhodell Church of God, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hornsby was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Hornsby; by granddaughter Leasha Bethea; by siblings, Tommy Hornsby, Kitty Hungate, Terri Bolen, and Erma Delp; by an infant brother and an infant sister.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his son , Ray Hornsby and wife Patty of Barnesville, Md; grandson James Dyott and wife Kelly of Poolesville, Md; great granddaughters Olivia Dyott and Maiya Bethea; siblings, Darrell Hornsby and wife Dottie of Egeria, Billy Hornsby and wife Diane of Josephine, Gary Hornsby and wife Geraldine of Roanoke, Va, and Jill Perkins and husband John of Daniels. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home at Shady Spring, WV on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Keith Coulter officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
