Kermit "Redeye" Hammonds

Mr. Kermit "Redeye" Hammonds of Summersville, WV and Leivasy, WV passed away from natural causes on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

He was the son of the late Pat and Georgetta Hammonds.

"Redeye" as he was known to friends and family was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a coal miner and a timberman by trade.

Mr. Hammonds was a kind man, good to everyone and never met a stranger. He was loved by many.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Julie (James) Wooten of Michigan, Kermit Patrick Hammonds of Summersville, daughter, Tara Russell, and son Jamie Bess. Sisters, Pat (Tom) Lawson of Summersville and Wanda (Art) Beaver of Virginia. Grandchildren, Jayson, Grayson, George, Darian, Nova and Brayden. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Trenbath and the staff of SRMC and to Bowers Hospice House. Also, thank you to everyone for their prayers and support.
