Kurtice Grey Tysinger ascended back home to the Universe on November 19, 2025. He was born on November 1, 1954 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Kurt also resided in New York, Virginia, and West Virginia; however, the home of his heart remained in Nutley, New Jersey.
Kurt was a lifelong learner who read encyclopedias as a child and avidly read as an adult. People who met him were always amazed by the depth and breadth of his knowledge about any topic. Kurt's passion was music. He had incredible musical intelligence, a self-taught musician who could play multiple instruments by ear. He was happiest when playing or teaching the electric and acoustic guitars. Kurt personified being hip and cool with his 6'4" stature and wild, long 1980s hair, a commanding presence that amplified his popularity as a band member of Blessed Fury.
Kurt was the original 'funcle' to his three nieces that adored and admired him in their childhood. They loved indulging in his culinary masterpieces, particularly his chocolate chip cookies; playing with his smelly, silly ferrets and white husky, Errol Flynn; practicing songs on his multiple guitars; going to the movies without their parents; and being spoiled by his many girlfriends. He deeply loved his family, and they greatly miss him.
Kurt was predeceased by his parents, Martha Kathleen Ryder Tysinger and Burton Grey Tysinger, and premature twin siblings, Anne and Burton, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved eldest sister, Kathleen Grey Tysinger Holstad of South Riding, Virginia and cousins in North Carolina, Georgia, and Illinois. He is Uncle Kurt to Alison Holstad, Kristen Sharpe, and Lesli Ferguson in addition to six great-nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece.
Kurt's memory is a blessing.
