Lawrence Roy Richards, Ii

Lawrence Roy Richards II, age 51, of Stanaford, WV passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV following a sudden illness.

Born on August 16, 1974 in Beckley, he was the son of Penney Milam Young of Stanaford, WV, and Lawrence Roy Richards of Lester, WV.

Lawrence, as he was known by family and friends, was a former dietician for the hospital industry. He enjoyed weight lifting, and had won a championship in West Virginia in weight lifting. He never met a stranger, and was a generous person with a gentle heart.

Lawrence was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Richards.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory, other than his parents Penney Young and Lawrence Richards, include nieces, Hannah and Kinsley Richards, both of Georgia; aunts, Mary Matheny and Kathy Milam, both of Beckley; two uncles Jeff Acord of Sandstone, and Todd Desper of Beckley; cousins Amber Rainey of South Carolina, Manda Snuffer of Shady Spring, and Melanie Birchfield, of Fitzpatrick.

A funeral service will be held at the First Church of God of Lester, WV on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Dale Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Hot Coal Cemetery at Sophia, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
