Linda Lou Porter

Linda Lou Porter (nee Triggs, also previously known as Linda Carper, Linda Burgess, and Linda Gravely) died after a short illness in Beckley, WV at age 83 on March 11, 2024.

She is survived by her son, David Carper, of Tucson, AZ; her son Jeff Carper and wife Helen, of Ford, VA; her daughter, JoAnn Carper and Rick Gregory, of Shady Spring, WV; her son, Tracy Michael Burgess III and wife Rikki, of Frankfort, KY; her son, Matthew Burgess of Beckley, WV, as well as former husband, Tracy Michael Burgess II of Pulaski, VA; and former husband, Steve Gravely of Beckley, WV; plus 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and a great granddaughter.

She is also survived by 3 brothers:  David Triggs of Cleveland, OH; Michael (and Diana) Triggs of Hendersonville, NC; Richard (and Gaynell) Triggs of Beckley, WV; plus her brother-in-law, Mike Palm of Marion, OH.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Nora Triggs; son, John Carper; daughter-in-law, Beth Carper; sister, Janet Palm; sister-in- law, Patricia Triggs, former husband, Larry Carper, and her late ex-husband, Wesley Porter.

She was a graduate of Shady Spring High School and was employed by the Raleigh County School District, various road construction and building construction crews, the Grandview Country Club, and the State of West Virginia.

From the time she was a young  girl, she wanted to have 12 babies.  She had 6 children of her own and then was a mother for several foster children later in her life.  She loved being a mother more than anything.

The family would like to thank the staff of Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown, WV and also the staff at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV for caring for our mother.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date for her immediate family. Please consider making a donation in memory of her to the Alzheimer's Association.
