Linda "Susie" Sue Meadows

Linda Sue "Susie" Gills Meadows, age 81, of Crab Orchard, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by love.

She was born September 28, 1944, in Beckley, WV, to the late Clarence Roy and Ruth Hollan Pruett Gills. Susie lived a life marked by faith, music, creativity, and deep devotion to her family.

Susie graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1962 and attended Beckley College. She worked as an operator and in the Loop Assignment Center retiring in 1993 after many years from C&P Telephone/Bell Atlantic/Verizon. She later worked part time at Webb's Florist and Jay Roles Floral for over 15 years. Susie was gifted musically and shared her talents generously.  A pianist, organist, and singer, she began playing in church as a young girl and continued using her music to glorify God throughout her life. She was proud to say that she played in her church for 72 years.

Her faith was steadfast, and she was a faithful member of Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church in Beaver, WV. Susie was a very active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America while working at the phone company where she was a member of the clown unit and loved volunteering and serving on the board of directors for the Telephone Pioneers of Americas International Sports Jamboree for the physically handicapped youth, held at North Bend State Park each July. After retirement, she enjoyed meeting new people and working the election polls, most recently at a precinct at Woodrow Wilson High School. She loved her family fiercely and supported them in all they did. She especially encouraged her grandsons in their academic, sports, and culinary endeavors and was so proud of them.

In addition to her parents, Clarence and Ruth Gills, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter Michelle Leigh Meadows in 1975, her special nephew Jimmy "JB" Brown in 1991, her brother-in-law Jim Brown in 2019, and a host of other brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 53 years, James "Jim" Meadows, her daughter Deborah Joy (Kevin) Fleming of Crab Orchard, her son Page (Becky) Meadows of Hinton, and treasured grandsons Devin and Kaedin Fleming of Crab Orchard, sisters Janet Brown of Crab Orchard and Jessie Meadows of Mabscott, brother-in-law Preston (Shirley) Meadows of Hillsboro, WV, special nieces Sherri Burleson, Tiffany Meadows and Brittany Meadows and nephew Brandon Meadows all of Crab Orchard; along with many other brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members. Honorary sister Donna Logwood of Richmond, VA and "adopted" sons and daughters Steve and Beverly Castanon of Coal City, Keith and Renee Manning of Crab Orchard, Derek and Emily Cullop of Weatherford, TX, and Josh and Tammy Wood of Crab Orchard.

Susie will be remembered for her gentle heart, her servant's spirit, her love for music and beauty, and most of all, her unwavering love for her family and her Lord. While she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven with Michelle and is now whole and pain free.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church in Beaver, WV on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Keith Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
