Lois Ann Ellison, age 78, of Daniels, WV went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born on Plumley Mountain, WV, Lois dedicated her life to serving her family and the community. She was a military wife before returning to WV in 1978. She worked at Murphy's Mart and Ames, followed by over 18 years at Walmart, for a total of 30 years before retiring in 2009. She enjoyed spending her leisure time making crafts, baking, gardening, quilting, and walking. She enjoyed visiting and vacationing with her cherished grandchildren.
Lois leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She was a beacon of generosity, gentleness, and devotion, embodying the true spirit of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warm heart and giving nature touched everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Stella (Richmond) Plumley; sister, Louise Bennett; sister, Carolyn Sue Plumley; and brother, Darryl Plumley.
Lois is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles Ellison; sons, Brian of Manassas, VA and Frank (Janel) of Knoxville, TN; and grandchildren, Savannah Ellison, Lacie Ellison, Nicholas Ellison, and Zachary Ellison. She also leaves behind her siblings, Violet Bennett of Clifton Forge, VA; Junior Plumley of Horse Branch, KY; Waneda (Ronald) Plumley of Cumberland, VA; Denzil Plumley of Powhatan, VA; and Alvin Plumley of Plumley Mountain, WV. Additionally, Lois is fondly remembered by many special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at the mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 1925 Harper Road, Beckley, WV 25801 on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 3:00 pm followed by burial with Pastor William Plumley officiating. Friends may visit with the family thirty minutes prior to the service on Friday at the mausoleum.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to StatCare and The University of Tennessee Medical Center (UT Hospice) in Knoxville, TN; Hospice of Southern West Virginia and the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV; and Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Princeton, WV for the exceptional care given to their loved one. In addition, the family would like to thank many dear friends, neighbors, and relatives for their kindness and help during this difficult time.
