Margaret Jane Grose

Margaret Jane Grose, age 86, of Daniels, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024. Mom will be greatly missed not only by her family, but also by the many people whose lives she touched. She was a beacon of joy and compassion throughout her life. We are deeply blessed for the years that Jesus allowed us to know and love her. Heaven gained a saint on the day she left this earth! Praise the Lord!

Margaret was born on August 30, 1938, to the late Ray Elliott and Wilma (Richmond) Elliott in Blue Jay, West Virginia. Those preceding her in death were her brothers, Jack Elliott, Kermit "Krum" Elliott, and sister, Mary Joe Wood. Margaret leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Ardith Winifred (Wink) Grose, her sons, Phillip Craig (Carol), Ardith Glen (Kelli), and Johnny Ray (Corrie); grandchildren, Kayla Popow, Brett Fortuna, Regan Grose, Allison Grose, Hillary Grose, and Lauren Grose; great-grandchildren Bailey Popow, Kyrah Fortuna, Bentley Popow, and Karsyn Fortuna; and siblings Ellen Anderson, Loye Elliot, and Sherry Owens.

Margaret graduated from Shady Spring High School in 1956. She spent her early career at Murphy's Department Store, delighting in the music department where she claimed to have sold an impressive number of Elvis records. In 1962, Margaret married her husband Wink. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Medina County, Ohio, and eventually settled in Brunswick, Ohio. Margaret's career included various part-time roles that allowed her to dedicate herself to her true calling as a devoted homemaker and mother. Alongside her husband, whom she was married to for 62 years, she raised three wonderful sons in Brunswick. In 1994, Margaret and Wink retired to the hills of West Virginia, embracing a quiet life surrounded by nature and family.

A devout believer in Jesus, Margaret was an active member of the Brunswick First Baptist Church in Ohio and later, The Gospel Chapel in West Virginia. Her faith was expressed joyfully through her musical talents; she played piano and sang in a quartet at Brunswick First Baptist Church. She also coached an all-girls team to first-place victory at the Regional AWANA Olympics. Margaret's later years in West Virginia were filled with traveling on bus tours with friends and family, spending precious moments with her grandchildren, and reminiscing about past adventures.

Margaret's legacy as a compassionate mother, granny, sister, and friend will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.

A special thank you to Sherry Owens for her devotion not only to our mother's well-being, but also for the well-being of our whole family, Ellen Anderson for all of the prayers and encouraging words, and Loye and Gloria Elliott for always being there to help and for the sweet prayer in Mom's last moments. Another thanks to Debbie Cooper for always checking in and being ready for action. A final thank you to our church family at The Gospel Chapel for your love and support. We love you!

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV, on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Luke Richmond officiating. Burial to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, at the funeral home prior to the service. Loye Elliott, Mike Elliott, Brett Fortuna, Jeff McNeely, Rusty Richardson and Mason Smith will serve as pallbearers.
