Marianne Adkins

Marianne Adkins, age 87, of Shady Spring, WV, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born on August 6, 1937, in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Adolf Mack and Rosa Ressing Mack.

Mrs. Adkins was a retired cook at King Tut Drive In with over 20 years of service.  She attended Sullivan Christian Church, and loved working jig saw puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Adkins; by son Edward Adkins and by a sister, Gutrun Christian.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Susie Gauldin and husband, Rick of Shady Spring, and Dagmar Schultes and husband, Wolfgang of Germany; a son, Ronald Adkins and wife, Dorinda of Elizabeth City, NC; a sister, Ruth Slayton of Killeen, Texas; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a great granddaughter arriving in August 2025; a host of nieces and nephews; her sidekick and brother-in-law, Denzil Adkins; and Scott West, who was just like another grandson. She also leaves behind best friend, Drema Cole and her husband, Charles.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Bill Prunest officiating. Burial will follow at the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at Abraham, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
