Marvin Wayne Lively

Marvin Wayne Lively, 86, of Beckley, WV entered eternal rest with the Lord Thursday, January 4, 2024, at a Beckley nursing facility where he had spent the last few years after an illness.

Born January 30, 1937, in Weirwood, WV and raised in Whitby, WV coal camp. He was the son of the late Irene Janney and Carnie E. Lively.

Mr. Lively honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1957; spending most of his time stationed at Misawa Air Base in Masawa, Aomori; northern part of the island of Honshu of Japan.

He thoroughly enjoyed hunting from a young boy with his dad and older brother, Gene, until he physically could no longer do so. His real passion was riding his prized Honda Gold Wing and the many more motorcycles that came before. Both of his liveliness past times hunting and riding motorcycles were his most treasured memories spent with his son, Rod.

Marvelous Marvin, as some knew him at "the plant" retired after 37 years working as sales manager at the Dr. Pepper and 7up Bottling Company in Beckley, WV. Typically, his company vehicle was his station wagon. That was his "office" that he put thousands of miles on every year all over southern West Virginia. Driving came easy for him, and he was an excellent "Uber" driver for all family and friends.

Marvin was a very faithful member of Hilltop Baptist Church then Crab Orchard Baptist Church where he was an usher at both. He was obedient and faithful; no matter where he was, he always was witnessing for Jesus Christ; sowing seeds.

Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life and wife of nearly 65 years, Sue Fink Lively of Beckley, WV, son Rodney "Rod" Grant (Shea McCormack) Lively of Beckley, WV, daughter Kendra Beth (James "Jim") McKay of Wake Forest, NC, granddaughter Dr. Maura AshtonLively Frye (Coty) of Shady Spring, WV. great granddaughter Delaney Blake Frye of Shady Spring, WV, bonus granddaughter Alexandra McKay of Wake Forest, NC, bonus grandsons Lucas (Lindsay) McKay of Anderson, SC. Spencer (Morgan) McKay of Raleigh, NC, bonus great granddaughter Emerson McKay of Anderson, SC, sister Ladene Lively Norris of Crab Orchard, WV, brother-in-law Michael "Mike" Trimble of Simpsonville, SC, along with two nieces, six nephews, numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Marvin was also preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Laurene Mills Fink and Mason M. Fink; brother Gene Austin Lively and sister-in-law Daphne Fink Lively and sister-in-law Marlene Fink Johnston; sister Loretta Lively Trimble, brother-in-law William "Bill" Norris, and niece Teresa "Terrie" Marie Johnston Light.

Services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel at 1901 South Kanawha St. Beckley, WV. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm. Service will immediately follow at 2 pm officiated by Pastor Dewey Lowe. Concluding with prayer followed by procession to committal at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel of Serenity 5250 Robert C. Byrd Dr. Prosperity, WV.

Pallbearers are Mark Lively, Coty Frye, Todd Norris, Ty Norris, Paul Trimble, Bruce Brammer, Gary Brammer and honorary pallbearer, Robert Skiles.
