Mary Louise Corey

Mary Louise Corey, age 102, of Montgomery, WV passed away at Montgomery Rehab and Nursing in Montgomery, WV on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

Born on June 23, 1923 in Williamson, WV, she was the birth daughter of the late Joseph and Wadia Abraham, and was reared by the late John and Affifa Ghiz.

Mrs. Corey was raised in Logan, WV, she attended West Virginia Institute of Technology and Marshall University. She was a retired schoolteacher for the Kanawha County Board of Education, having taught at East Bank High School, and later taught at Carver Career and Technical School in Malden, WV. Mrs. Corey also helped with her husband Fayz George Corey in the operation of the family business, Pay Less  Discount in Montgomery, WV.

Mrs. Corey was a member of the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral in Charleston, WV.

Mrs. Corey was a member of the Women's Club in Montgomery, WV,  and enjoyed flower gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fayz Corey; brothers George, Fred and Philip Ghiz; three sisters, Anna Klele, Rose Helal and Mary Ghiz; nephews Carl Klele and Albert Klele Jr.; a niece Betty Lou Flanagan.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include stepsons, Mitchell Corey of Beckley, John Corey and wife Peggy of Boardman, OH, and Dennis Corey and wife Cheryl of Cathedral City, California. A niece, Julia Klele of Richmond, Virginia, and a nephew Edward Helal of Ashland, OH; eight step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to the Montgomery Rehab and Nursing for the excellent care given to Mrs. Mary Corey during the past four years.

A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV, with Memorial Prayers to be held at a later date.
