Mary Elizabeth Grose

Mary Elizabeth Grose, age 78, of Cool Ridge, WV passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 following a long illness.

She was born on February 25, 1946, at Lillybrook, WV.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wesley Grose; her parents, Lenzie and Gladie Basham; her precious great granddaughter, Kinley Heart Grose; three brothers Kenneth Basham, David (Bo) Basham and Vernon (Buz) Basham; and three sisters Shelby Keaton, Alice Meadows and Linda Mae Basham.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son Wesley Grose Jr. (Lisa); a daughter, Jean Miles (Rodney Long). Grandchildren, Khristina "Tia" Via, (Brandon Kelley), Trae Via (Meghan), Greyson Miles, and Hunter Grose (Katie). Mawmaw Honey's great grandchildren, Makenzi Via, Jax Via, Deluca Johnson, Taygan Bridgeman, Holden Grose and Harlow Grose. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, her "adopted" kids and grandkids she acquired over the years and extended family and friends.

Mrs. Grose retired from the Social Security Office of Beckley, WV. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards with her Golden Girls. Mary never met a stranger and loved everyone.

The family extends a very special thank you to the fantastic staff at Princeton Community Hospital for taking such good care of her. Also, heartfelt thanks to Jeff Yahya, a close family friend and amazing nurse, for taking such good care of her during her stay at Princeton Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Monday, April 15, 2024, at
3:30PM with Rev. Larry Lilly officiating, with singing by Brenda Kelley. Friends may visit with the family from 1:30PM until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Coal City Community Cemetery, Coal City, WV.

Pallbearers will be Trae Via, Greyson Miles, Hunter Grose, John Lenzie Meadows, Brandon Kelley, Rodney Long, and Matt Whitt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deluca Johnson and Jax Via.
