Mary Ester Russell

Mary Ester Russell, age 67, of Coal City, WV passed away on March 5, 2025 at her home in Coal City, WV.

Born on September 2, 1957 in Fireco, WV she was the daughter of the late O.J. Akers and Sylvia Shuck Akers.

Mrs. Russell was a retired CNA and was a member of Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church at Crab Orchard.

She loved spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards and being outdoors.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by daughters Robin and Sylvia Russell, siblings, Gary Akers, Margaret Akers, Linda Williams, Betty Sears, Aubrey Akers, and Michael Akers.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rachel Russell and husband Marvin Duvall of Coal City; eight grandchildren, Marcus, Hailey, Trey, Desirae, Kyra, Brookyn, Alexis, and Little Jackie; a great grandchild Kinlee.

A service will be held at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Keith Manning officiating.  Friends may visit with the family thirty minutes prior to the services on Tuesday the funeral home.

A private burial will follow at Jonben Cemetery, Jonben, WV.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
