Matthew Lee Hammons passed away on November 17, 2025, following a long illness, leaving behind a life that was deeply felt by all who knew him.
Matthew was born April 19, 1985 to the late Raymond and Cynthia Hammons. He was a skilled and passionate mechanic, known for his natural talent, hard work, and ability to bring things back to life with his hands and his mind. He carried a spark that could not be dimmed.
Outside of his work, he found peace in the outdoors and joy in spending time with his friends and loved ones. He was generous to his core; the kind of man who would give anything he had to help someone else. Raised in Crow, West Virginia, it remained his favorite place on earth.
Matthew was a loving person who faced many struggles, yet he continued to shine in his own way. His journey was not easy, but it was real. He kept trying, giving the best of himself even when it was hard. It does not matter how someone leaves this world; it matters how they lived in it, and Matthew truly lived.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Cynthia Hammons, his father, Raymond Hammons and grandmother Janet Rose.
Matthew is survived by his siblings, Michael Hammons, Amanda Hammons, and Elizabeth Hammons, who meant the world to him, as well as his longtime girlfriend and soulmate, Crystal Williams Meador.
Matthew was one of a kind. To lose him is a loss that words cannot fully hold. There is comfort in knowing he is reunited with his mother, a love he carried so deeply.
You are free now beautiful soul. You will never be forgotten.
