Maxine Vernae Donell, age 72 of Midway, WV passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born on July 15, 1953 in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Richard Berella Jr., and Maxine Patrus Hawkins Berella.
Mrs. Donell was co-owner and operator, along with her husband Eddie Donell, of Speedy Wrecking at Midway, WV, a business they proudly started in 1995. She was a member,( and loved her church), the Bolt Church of God, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and as a Children's Church Leader.
Mrs. Donell enjoyed gardening, bowling, spending time with her family and friends, and spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her work, as owner of Speedy Wrecking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by stepson, Edward Donell; siblings, Jesse M. Foster Jr., and Richard "Poncho" Berella, III.
Those survivors left to cherish her wonderful memory include her husband 56 years, Eddie Donell; her children, Pauline Cox and fiancé Rick Orren of Midway, and Rebecca Fowler of Huntersville, NC; three grandchildren, Brittany Donell Fisher and husband Brett, of Ohio, Andrew T. Cox and wife Alexis of Midway, and Payton C. Fowler and fiancé Alexis Richardson of Rock Creek; great grandchildren, sisters Kinsley and Paisley Cox, and Jinora Fisher, with a great grandson soon to be born; brothers, Stephen Berella and wife Vicky of Beckley, Franklin Berella of Beckley, and Clinton Berella of Morgantown; sisters Rebecca Lynn Berella Hughes and husband James of Matthews, NC, Karen J. Smith Walker of Oxford, PA, Lucinda Berella of Beckley, Martha Berella of Beckley, Arizona Berella of Beckley, Mary Toney of Beckley, and sister-in-law Marie Edwards Brown, of Port Deposit, MD. Special friends, Virginia Smith, Carolyn Moore, and Hilda Shorter also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Bolt Church of God, Bolt, WV on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Ricky Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Cox, Payton Fowler, Thomas Cox, Rick Orren, Stephen Berella, and Christopher Taylor.
