Mellisa Ann Hensley

Mellisa Ann Hensley, age 55, left her earthly home and walked through the gates of heaven on Friday, May 2, 2025. Through her determination and good and faithful service, she finished her work here on earth earlier than expected.   Mellisa was a deeply loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend.  She enjoyed the little things in life and appreciated everything.  She lived everyday for her family and friends. She was never judgmental and spread compassion and kindness to everyone she met.   Mellisa was everything good, she was so good that God made her a cornerstone of several families so that they could all share in her love and light.

Mellisa worked over 20 years with American Electric Power and thought of her co-workers as family.  She not only loved the people in her life, she was an avid animal lover and especially loved strays and the ones that needed her care the most. Taking care of her horses was one of the greatest joys in her life.

Mellisa was the born on  March 7, 1970 to Charles Farley and Kathryn Bowling (Fraley) and was the loving daughter of Charles and Cheryl Farley and Kathryn and Roger Fraley spreading enough love and kindness to bind two separate and complete families.

She was the devoted wife of Charles (Chuck) Hensley for more than 18 years and enjoyed their motorcycle rides, weekend trips and time at home tending to their animals while making their house a home.  She was the passionate and caring  mother of her only daughter, Lana Dunbar (Matthew),  and her sons, Chris Hensley (Heather) and David Hensley (Dakota).  Mellisa shared a separate special and unique bond with each of her children.

She was also the cherished grandmother of Coalton Hensley, Ian Gordon; Matt, Sarah, Noah and Gennie Dunbar and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the twins, Kayden Wayne and Kylie Raine Hensley. Her captivating smile, kind words and warm hugs  will be greatly missed by her brothers, Charles Farley (Wendy) and Roger Fraley (Ashley) and her sisters, Shasta Mullins (Joshua) and Mary Baker.  An immense loss will also be felt by her uncle, Gary Riley, who shared her passion for caring for horses.

She also leaves behind a brokenhearted, supportive group of relatives, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Mellisa's legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity.  Even with little to spare, she continued to give and help others.  Even when she was sick or in pain, she never faltered in caring for those she loved more than she did herself.  Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in all those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley from 6 PM-9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Ricky Peters officiating. Mellisa's final earthly resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.
