Melody Faye King

Melody Faye King, age 57, of Crab Orchard, WV passed away at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Born on August 26, 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harry Rhodes and Naomi Ward  Rhodes. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister Betty.

Melody, as she was known by her family and friends was a former employee of the Raleigh County Board of Education, last working at Ridgeview Elementary School.

She was a member of Coal City Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed going  to the beach and spending time outdoors.

Those survivors  left to cherish her memory include her husband of nearly forty years, Lloyd King; two children, Melanie Bailey and husband Jeremy of Gauley Bridge, and Derek King and companion Kacy of Crab  Orchard; five grandchildren Abagail Bailey, Derek Wesley  King, Racheal King, Gabrielle Bailey and Abel King. A sister, Phyllis Lacy and husband Alfred of Coal City, and a brother Harry Rhodes Jr. and wife Lisa of Princewick. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1 PM with Pastor Charlie Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Friday at the  funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
