Mendy Ann Ashby

Mendy Ann Ashby, age 65, of Beckley, WV was called home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV after a two year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her three beloved children, Amy, Shawn and Britany.

Born March 27, 1960 in Manassas, VA she was the daughter of the late Walter Ray and Loretta Kay Ashby of Lookout, WV. She was a 1978 graduate of Valley High School, Smithers, WV.

Mendy had a passion for crafting and God gifted her with so much creative talent. She enjoyed crafting many beautiful creations including wreaths, crocheted blankets, hats and stuffed animals, as well as wood working. She enjoyed decorating her front yard with all of her creations and wooden figures that she made by hand. She always wanted to have the prettiest yard on Harper Road and loved bringing people joy with her decorations during the holiday seasons.

For many years she worked and served her community as a caregiver for the mentally and physically disabled. She had a special connection with her clients and always made sure they felt special, loved and cared for with dignity and compassion.

In the words of her children, "she was the best, most loving mother we ever could've asked for." She was a precious and beautiful soul, always showing so much love and care for her babies and grandbabies. They were her greatest pride and joy and she always made sure they knew how much she loved them.

Mendy was full of energy, life and most of all...love. Although her radiant, loving presence will be sorrowfully missed by everyone who loved her, we are so grateful that she is now with the Lord, healed and free from pain.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Natalie Ashby of Hico, WV.  and grandparents, Otho and Edith Holcomb of Ansted, WV.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Amy Green and Britany Ashby and Shawn Ashby (Jessica Ashby), and her five precious grandchildren, Jordan, Amiyah, Maliyah, Aubree and Bladen.

A celebration of Mendy's life for family and friends to be held at a later date.

Jeremiah 30:17 "I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord."
