Nedra Anne Rock Lilly has left this world and is in the presence of God!
Nedra was born in Alabama, the 6th of 10th children born to Clyde and Exie Dunaway Rock. The family lived in Alabama and in West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. Her sister, Gail Travis of Alabama, is the last of the ten children remaining.
She met the love of her life when she was a student at Stoco High School. Nedra and Rev. Grayson C. Lilly were married in 1954. They were blessed with the birth of two sons.
Nedra loved being a pastor's wife. She was always cooking, canning, working in the garden, and sharing it all with others. Her passion for sewing was shared by making quilts for others, face masks during Covid, and lap quilts for veterans. She had a beautiful high alto voice that praised God in everything. At one time she sang with a gospel quartet, but mostly sang in church choirs and solos. She was beside her husband in ministry at Coal City Community Church, Glen Morgan Missionary Baptist Church, and in the many times he preached revivals.
Sharing her memories are sons Charles Lilly and his wife Sue of Indiana, and Tim Lilly and his wife Dee of North Carolina. Nedra and Clemis were delighted with the birth of two granddaughters, Jennifer Martin of Indiana and Lauren Jeffries of North Carolina. Great-grandchildren that she is telling Clemis all about are Will Martin, Josh Martin and Ella Jeffries.
