Nellie B. Schrader

Nellie B. Darnell Schrader, age 91, of Shady Spring, WV passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Born September 8, 1934 in Rhodell, WV she was the daughter of the late John Eller Darnell and Pina Meadows Darnell.

Mrs. Schrader was a homemaker, and had worked at Town and Country Restaurant, and the Char. She loved taking care of her yard, and was the best mother, grandmother aunt, and "neighborhood mom."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Schrader in 1980; by siblings, Georgie Darnell, Richard Darnell, Grace Hensley, Vernon Darnell, Cloe Marie Jones,  Ralph Darnell, Elijah Darnell, Ethel Corbin, and by a special niece, Patty Canterbury.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Sharon Williams of Cool Ridge, Sandra Meador, Marty Schrader, and Teresa Whitt, all of Shady Spring. Grandchildren, Shaun Williams, Josh Williams, Anthony Meador, Brett Meador, Owen Whitt, Mason Whitt, Matthew Whitt and Cassie Hatcher. Great grandchildren, Raelynn and Jensen Williams, Jayden, Laramie and Layken Whitt, Silas and Kora Meador, Levi Hatcher, and Aleena Greenway. Two sisters, Mary Maxey (Kermit) of Camp Creek, and Jean Richmond of Beaver. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

A Graveside Rite and Burial for immediate family members to attend will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Keith Manning officiating.

There will be no visitation.
