Nevie Jarrell, Jr.

Nevie Jarrell Jr., 89, of Beckley, WV, went peacefully to be with the Lord on August 19, 2025, in Salem, VA, after a sudden illness.

Born May 13, 1936, in Marfork, WV, he was the son of the late Nevie Jarrell Sr. & Alice Turner Jarrell Price & stepson of the late Herman Price.

Nevie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, LaVerne Jarrell; daughter, Cheryl Jarrell; son, John Jarrell; & brother, Elmer Price.

He is survived by his children, Steve Jarrell, Martha Jarrell, Virginia (Jim) Bailey, & Greg Jarrell; grandchildren, Wayne Jarrell, Shaun Jarrell, Amanda (Curtis) Bluto, Jennifer (Jeff) Cook, Becky (JJ) Dempsey, Justin Rouse, Brian McKnight, & Rueben Jarrell; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Patty Pettry & Joyce (Minnis) Brown; brothers, HD (Helen) Price & Alfred (Willa) Price; & two daughters "adopted" by love, Carolyn Vann & Lisa Ward.

Nevie loved making people laugh & had endless stories to share. He took pride in his racing days, often recounting tales of driving "Doc's Dart." He was a former Marine, an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends. Nevie's warmth & humor touched all who knew him, & he will be deeply missed.

A memorial service to honor Nevie will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Horse Creek Freewill Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor James Dickens with music by Brenda Dickens.
