Norma Gale Lilly

Norma Gale Spangler Lilly, known simply as Gale to her friends and family, passed away on September 23, 2025 in San Antonio,
TX, following a brief illness.

Born on July 31, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jeff Spangler and Valeria DeWitt Spangler.

Gale was born in Cirtsville, WV but moved to Bradley, WV with her husband, Bill Lilly, to raise her family.

She deeply loved her Lord Jesus Christ and remained a member of the Bradley Presbyterian Church even after moving to Floresville, TX in her later years. Visiting her hometown every year was mandatory, as she was deeply connected to the land and culture where she was born, grew up, and raised her family. Gale attended church and had a strong church family at the United Methodist Church in Floresville, TX, where she was a member of the Heavenly Stitchers who made quilts for local children's charity.

Gale was an avid quilter and made hundreds of quilts for family, friends, and charity.

She is missed immensely by her surviving family: Steven Mark Lilly (son) of Maple Fork, WV; Rebecca Lilly Segura (daughter) and husband Thomas of Floresville, TX; and William Scott Lilly (son) of Bradley, WV. Gale was affectionately known as "Granny" or "GG" to her grandchildren and is survived by: Steven Mark Lilly Il and wife Pam of Cirtsville, WV; Loretta Maxine Lilly Chambers and husband Michael of Bradley, WV; Aaron Michael Segura of Floresville, TX; Jonathan Thomas Segura and wife Kyra Borrè of Brooklyn, NY; Brenda Gale Lilly Williams of Beckley WV; Lora Robyn Lilly of Charleston, WV; seven great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory is one brother, Jerry Spangler and wife Barbara of Jefferson, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 52 years, William Mark Lilly; son Robin Dale Lilly; daughter-in- law Linda Kathleen Prince Lilly; sister Joan Spangler Welcome; and brother Dale Spangler.
