Orville Lawrence Ayers

Orville Lawrence Ayers, age 78, of Falls View, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Montgomery General Hospital in Montgomery, WV.

Born on February 27, 1947 at Royal, WV, he was the son of the late Orville Preston Ayers and Katherine Marie Redden  Ayers.

Mr. Ayers was a former heavy equipment operator for the coal industry. He was a US Army Veteran, stationed in Germany. In the military had served as a cook. Mr. Ayers was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Billy Ray Ayers.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 55 years, Linda Martin  Ayers; his children, Melissa  Stalnaker and husband Sam of Mt. Nebo, Orville  L. Ayers Jr. and wife Trina of Falls View, and Melinda Ferguson and fiancé Chris Dozier of Falls View; A sister Anna Springhower  of Raytown, Missouri; five grandchildren, Talynda Ferguson, Samantha Belt and husband Lucas, Jadika Stalnaker, Nevaeh  Ayers, and Jessica Ayers.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Keith Manning officiating. Burial will follow at  the Donel C. Kinnard  Memorial State Veterans Cemetery at Dunbar, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
