Patsy Jane Wilkerson

Patsy J. Wilkerson, age 82, has passed from a courageous battle of Alzheimer's. Formally from Beckley, West Virginia, she moved to Pascagoula, Mississippi to spend time with her growing family and much-loved time beaching. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1959 and received a BS degree from Marshall University. After receiving her master's degree from College of Charleston, West Virginia, she went on to complete her certificate of Doctoral Completion at The University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg.

After her retirement from Appalachian Psychiatric Services, she also loved working at her new adventure It's New To Me, Beaver, West Virginia. "My Pat" as was called by most who knew her had an uncanny way of just a little tug on a bow, or just moving something a smidge to make anything look perfect. Pat was also known as the Baby Whisperer; she could absolutely calm a baby or child with her touch and held many a baby to give a parent a little break as she loved every minute of it. She enjoyed all kinds of dance, especially belly dancing. She also enjoyed gardening and researching her genealogy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. and Anna Mae Wilkerson, brother Frank William Wilkerson, and infant son John Coleman McDonough II.

Patsy is survived by her daughter Kelly McDonough Griffith; Grandson Hunter (Haley) Griffith; great grandchildren, Koda Griffith, and Lainey Griffith.

The family would like to thank our adopted family Miguel, Isa, Jaro' and Charlof' for all the love and care you gave Pat and Deaconess Hospice.

The graveside funeral service officiated by Howard Bozeman, Jr. will be held 1:00pm Friday, November 8th, 2024. Inurnment will immediately follow in Serenity Rest at Serenity Funeral Home 8691 Old Pascagoula, Theodore, Alabama 36582.
