It is not goodbye Mom, We will Meet You by the River

Peggy Dean (Piercy) Mills of Coal City, WV was affectionately known as Maw and Babe. She was born in Killarney, WV as the daughter of the late Bernie Paul Piercy, Sr., and Angie Ruth (Thompson) Piercy. Her life-long passion was providing for the needs of her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing front forward on the basketball team at Stoco High School and camping. Her personality was one of strength, determination, and a straight-shooter because you always knew where you stood with her.

Those who preceded her in death other than her parents was her loving husband of 55 years, Jimmie D. (Paw) Mills, a son Greg Mills, two sons-in-law Gene Wilson and Bill Griffith, a sister Dorothy (Sis) Shupe who was her best friend, two brothers Guy Ellis Piercy and Bernie Paul Piercy, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Pam Brown (Kim) of Lewisville, NC, Rhonda Underwood and Gina Griffith both of Coal City. Grandchildren, Kelli Rash (Chris Ellis) of Yadkinville, NC; Joshua Underwood (Nicole) of Alexandria, VA; Jared Underwood (Lindsey) of Beckley, WV; and Ryan Griffith of Cool Ridge, WV. Great-grandchildren, Brody Underwood and Blake Underwood of Beckley, WV, Sofia Underwood and Pippa Underwood of Alexandria, VA. A brother Jerry Piercy, Sr. (Gail) of Coal City, WV. Many nieces and nephews who she cherished.

James 4:14 - It is with our faith in the Lord that we understand this life is as a vapor and hold to the promise, as believers, we will reunite very soon to never be separated again.

A celebration of life will take place at Daniels Missionary Baptist Church in Daniels, WV on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Dillon officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV.

Pallbearers will be Josh & Jared Underwood, Ryan Griffith, Jerry Piercy Sr., Bernie Shupe, Kim Brown, and Chris Ellis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations of sympathy be sent to Hospice of Southern WV, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
