Phillip Ray Lewis, age 52, of Beckley, WV passed away at his home on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Born on December 25, 1971 in Beckley, he was  the son of Alice Altice Lewis of Daniels; stepson of Ray Lester; son of Phillip C. Lewis of Nimitz.

Phillip was a graduate of Shady Spring High School, Concord College (now Concord University)  and Marshall University.  He was a former social worker, a former Liaison for  the Office of Senator Jay Rockefeller,  was a former teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School, and was a former director of Careers and Activities at Concord University. Phillip was looking forward to becoming  a teacher at Shady Spring Middle School this coming fall.

Phillip was always active in 4-H  activities, where he also was a 4-H All Star.  He enjoyed doing creative writing and learning new things. Phillip enjoyed  socializing with people, and never met a stranger. He attended New Life Baptist Church at White Oak.

He was preceded in death by maternal  grandparents, Harry Altice and Espy Wilkerson Altice; paternal grandparents Mack R. Lewis and Eunice Smith Lewis; special uncles J.C. Adkins, Thomas Joseph Altice, and James Hodge.

Other than his parents, survivors include his special children, Kaylee Evans, Jackson Evans, Cameron Evans, and Trinity Evans; aunts and uncles, Christine  Adkins, Gary and wife Alice Altice, Michael and Martha Bryant, Janet Altice, Bonnie Shumate, Alan Lewis and Roberta Carter. He also leaves behind numerous cousins who were very dear to him, and also  his special cat Jack.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel in Shady Spring on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 1 PM with Pastor Rodney Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Adkins, Justin Hodge, Mark and Drew Little, Ramey Pauley, Ron Goodwin, Gary Allen, A.J. Zilinski, and Eli Fama.
