Phyllis Marshall, 85, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away on August 15, 2026. 

She was born in Flat Top West Virginia, to Eli and Ethel Fitzwater.

Phyllis was married to the love of her life, Eddie Marshall. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and faith. Eddie passed away on August 14, 2024, and Phyllis carried her love for him with her every day and wanted no more than to be with him again.

To Phyllis, no calling was no more important than being a devoted wife and mother. She was a loving mother to Eddie Marshall II, Ginger Marshall, and Wayne Marshall and his wife Courtney who Phyllis adored. She dearly enjoyed her grandchildren, Jill West, Audrey Brown and Drake Marshall, and her eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Randy Fitzwater and his wife Donna, several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her best friends Betty King and Jannie Martin.

Phyllis had a generous spirit and a heart for helping others. If she believed someone was in need, she would find a way to help. Even when her mobility became limited, she continued to give, encourage, and care for those around her in every way possible. She is known for her honesty, her wisdom, and, most of all, her big heart.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she deeply loved her church family at Crab Orchard Baptist. The kindness Phyllis showed others was a reflection of the love she had for her Savior.

Phyllis was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dana Marshall and her parents, Eli and Ethel Fitzwater.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of faith, honesty, generosity and unconditional love. She will be remembered not only for all she gave, but the way she made those around her feel loved and cared for. Her family will miss her wise advice, her giving heart, and the steady love that her home was a place of comfort.

The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nurses and nursing assistants of Hospice of Southern West Virginia, as well as Phyllis’s caregiver and friend, Rachael Pack, for the compassionate and loving care they provided.

A service to celebrate Phyllis’s remarkable life will be held at 1:00 pm at Crab Orchard Baptist Church on Saturday , August 22, 2026 with Rev. Dewey Lowe. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. The family invites those who knew and loved Phyllis to join them in celebrating her home going.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia in recognition of the compassionate care Phyllis received.
