Ray Andrew "Andy" McManamay, age 85, of Daniels, formerly of Skelton, WV passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the Beckley VA Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 23, 1940 to the late Ned C. and Rena E. McManamay.
Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army, and retired after serving 21 years. While in the Army, he served in numerous locations around the world , and three tours of duty in Vietnam. He received many citations and awards for his honorable service.
Ray went on to work for UPS for 20 years, and then for Coach USA for16 years. He fully retired in 2020. Ray enjoyed traveling and lounging in his recliner while watching Gunsmoke, or listening to old country music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan Dolinger, and a brother, John "Pete" McManamay.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Steven McManamay, Karen McManamay Scarbro, Kevin McManamay, Shannon "Muffin" McManamay (Stacy), Sharon Curran, Marie Dawson, and Brian Humes (Carrie); honorary daughters, Stacie Newman Smith and Kaylan Marsh; siblings, Walker "Butch" McManamay, Roy McManamay (Sandra), and Mary Windsor, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews that also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ray McManamay will be held at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Keith Manning officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the funeral home.
Full military honors will be provided by the US Army National Guard. As per his personal wishes, cremation will follow.
