Rickie Charles Coalson

Rickie Charles Coalson, age 67, of Coal City, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 23, 1957, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Charles William Coalson, Jr., and Frances Phillips Coalson.

Rickie was a retired coal miner and a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was also active in the Fayette County Black Lung Association, advocating for the health and rights of fellow miners. He served as a Deacon at Teel Apostolic Church in Beckley, WV, and was a mentor to many young men throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several loved ones.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 50 years, Kathy; two children, Christopher Coalson and his wife Frances of Daniels, WV, and Rebecca Blankenship and her husband David of Beckley, WV; two brothers, Kenny Coalson and his wife Susan of Crab Orchard, WV, and Michael Coalson of Beckley, WV. He is also survived by five beloved grandchildren: Brooklyn and her husband Carson, Allyson, Charleigh, Lexi, and Wyatt.

Funeral services will be held at Teel Apostolic Church, located at 219 Front Street, Beckley, WV 25801, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. Private burial will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
