Robert Cleo Bare II, 68, of Shady Spring, West Virginia passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026.

He was born on August 27, 1957, to the late Robert Cleo Bare and Patricia Ann Morgan Bare.

Robert lived in Decatur, Alabama for 21 years and Taft, Tennessee for 6 years where he was a member of Sweet Springs Baptist Church, Ardmore, AL. He loved serving the Lord, found happiness living on a farm, and helped those in need, especially his church family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Cleo Bare, and brother-in-law, Keith Tate.

Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cindy Bare, daughter, Carol Lynne (Michael) Templeton, two sons, Matthew Lee Bare and Robert Don (Terri) Bare, his mother, Ann Bare, one brother, John A. Bare, one sister, Carol Ann Tate, four grandchildren; Haley (Connor) Thomas, Makayla Bare, Alyssa Bare, and Aiden Bare, as well as one expected great grandchild.

Robert graduated from Shady Spring High School in 1976 and entered the Bicentennial enlistment in the U.S.A.F. in 1976-1989. He had over 2 years of college along with U.S.A.F. college and multiple certifications. Other than aerospace, he was a Union Pacific Railroad foreman and drove 18-wheel trucks across the country.

In the U.S.A.F., Robert was first trained as a crew chief on the A-10 bomber, then moved to the F-15 fighter jet. In total, he worked on the A-10A, A-7D, F-4 E&G, F-15 C,D&E and F-16 C&D aircraft. After separation from the U.S.A.F., he was part of the final assembly for Boeing aircraft C-17, F-16, F-18 and finally The Delta II & Delta IV launch vehicles. In 2016 after retiring from United Launch Alliance (ULA), he went to work for Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) as a quality assurance specialist on the Delta rockets. He then retired from federal service in 2016. Robert was a disabled veteran with over 40 years extensive experience in aerospace and aviation maintenance. He was able to travel the world including the US from coast to coast, Korea, Japan, Germany, Morocco, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Spain, and Sardinia, Italy, with NATO forces.

There will be a visitation held for Mr. Bare at Sweet Springs Baptist Church in Ardmore, Alabama, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A chapel service is scheduled immediately after visitation with service time beginning at 7:00 PM. Pastor Brent Logan will officiate the service. The service will be live streamed, and access to this stream can be found on the Sweet Springs Baptist Church website www.sweetspringsbc.com.

The family will also receive friends at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley, West Virginia, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with a committal service following at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Rollan Roberts, with burial to follow at the cemetery.
