Robert "Bob" Carl Arnold, 78, of Beckley peacefully passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024.

Bob was born on October 28, 1945 to Leland and Ruth Reger Arnold in Huntington, WV.

He graduated from Marshall University with a BS in Biology. But his heart belonged to his University of Kentucky Wildcats where he
received a Masters in Biology.

He proudly served in the US Army from 1969 -1971.

Bob worked for the USDA Agriculture Research Service for 38 years at the Appalachian Soil and Water Research Center in Beaver, WV. He loved his job. Even in retirement he really enjoyed meeting his co-workers at monthly lunches.

Bob was passionate about nature and the outdoors and loved what he did for a living. In his  off time he could be found hiking with his brothers Richard and Raymond, and often hiked the National Parks.

In 1987 he met his wife Cindee at a Christian Singles Group at First Christian Church. They were married in November 1988.

He enjoyed traveling including trips to show Cindee his favorite National Parks. He loved reading, music, and walking his schnauzers Gretchen and Trudy.

Bob was an active member of Perry Memorial United Methodist Church and loved being with his Perry family. He especially enjoyed singing in the choir. He valued greatly his Perry friendships.

Bob was predeceased by his father Leland Arnold, his mother Ruth Arnold, and big brother Richard.

He is survived by his wife Cindee and his brother Raymond of Princeton, WV.

Bob had a special place in his heart for his niece and nephews: Larry Arnold, Huntington WV; Lura Arnold Graham, Princeton WV; Jonathan Arnold, Hereford, AZ; Geoffrey Arnold, Port Hueneme, CA; and Matthew Arnold who currently lives in Thailand.

Services will be held in Beckley, WV at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2pm. Visitation will precede the service from 12-2pm. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Perry Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 1264, Shady Spring, WV 25918.
