Roger Dale Dillon, age 77, of Beckley, WV passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 following a sudden illness.
Born on August 10, 1946 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Kelly Dillon Sr. and the late Della Treadway Hoover, and was the step son of the late Bill Hoover.
Roger, as he was known by family and friends, was a retired employee of United Dairy as a truck driver. He was a Veteran of the US Army, and was of the Baptist faith. Roger was a member of the Loyal Order Of The Moose #1606. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sandy Sue Dillon; by a son Charles "Chuckie" Dillon; by a brother Kelly Dillon Jr., and a sister Sharon Dillon.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Kimberly Wamsley and husband Matt of Beckley, and Tracy Parks and husband David Parks Jr. of Shady Spring; three grandchildren, Kayleigh Gardner of Beckley, and Papaw's big buddy Dillon Parks and papaw's little buddy Addison Parks of Shady Spring. A special nephew, Roddy Baber and wife Sue of Beckley, and several others nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend, or walk in the woods for a moment, an hour, or a day. Time waits on no one. Papaw Rog would do it if he could.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 1 PM with Rev. Keith Manning officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
