Roger Lee Fraley

Roger Lee Fraley entered into the kingdom of heaven peacefully, surrounded by his family, on May 21, 2026, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia. He was born on November 30, 1950 to Maude and Everett Fraley.  Roger grew up in Slab Fork, and married the love of his life, Kathryn, on October 6, 1973.  Their union lasted for more than 50 years.

Roger proudly served his Country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper.  He was based out of Ft. Bragg, NC as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and was a Vulcan Crew Member in Air Defense Artillery.  After his service, he and Kathryn made their home in Lester, West Virginia where he would spend the remainder of his earthly life with her, raising their family.

As a civilian, Roger worked as a core driller and heavy equipment mechanic.  He was always ready for a good time and enjoyed music, family, and friends.  He loved classic cars, fast cars and motorcycles.  He also liked discussing world history, current events and politics with anyone, no matter their view. He advised that he will not be voting as a democrat after his death.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; Everett and Maude Fraley; his beloved daughter, Mellisa Hensley; his sister, Carol Bolt, brother Franklin "Buddy" Fraley, and brother Everett Wayne Fraley.

He left to cherish his memory, his wife and soulmate, Kathryn Fay Fraley; his son, Roger Allen Fraley (Ashley), daughter, Shasta Kay Mullins (Joshua); his grandchildren, Lana Dunbar (Matthew), Austin Fraley, Hunter Fraley, Summer Fraley (Logan Cochran), Tori Jones, Keeley Jones, Joscelyn Mullins, Jase Mullins, Axel Fraley; great grandchild, Kaylee Fraley; his siblings, Geraldine Shepherd, (Banks), Bill Fraley (Barbara), and James Allen Fraley (Alice) and a precious crew of friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dale Birchfield officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Military Honors.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
